Polyphasic Sleep System Day One

90 Minute Nap Day One

Well I did it! Got my first nap done and have to admit I am exhausted. It has to be normal for the beginning. Your body had been sleeping for a lot of hours straight for a long time and you up and try to change it, you can't expect it to feel outgoing when it's beginning you to please if you know what's good for you, go back to bed!

I was surprised at how easy it was to fall asleep in the first place, as it was a full 4 hours before I normally even get tired enough to go to sleep. But I closed my eyes and the next think I know that blasted alarm is ringing in my ears. All I can say is thank God it was not one of those chocked up horn alarms that is most common. Just hearing one of those on TV makes my skin itch. After so many years of having one it's like nails on a chalk board, and unless I am desperate I won't use one.

My schedule will be off quite a bit twice a week I realized upon waking as during what should normally be my 180 nap time is also the time I have a Math class. Ugg, so I have spent the last ten minutes trying to rework this sleep schedule so that I can get all of my sleep in before math then work. The result is all my sleep schedules will have to be a lot closer together. You are supposed to spread your 90 minute nap and your 20 minute nap six hours apart. But having to move my 180 0ne so that I am getting up an hour before math and not being able to budge my 90 minute one due to work, results in having to have my 20 minute nap only around three hours after my 90 minute one. Is this making any since to anyone but me? Here is my schedules.

On a NORMAL WORK DAY:

6am-6:20am = 20 Minute Nap
11am-2pm = 180 Minute Nap
3pm-11pm = Work
11:30pm-1am = 90 Minute Nap

On a MATH WORK DAY:
3am-3:20am = 20 Minute Nap
7am-10pm = 180 Minute Nap
11am-12:30pm = Math
3pm-11pm = Work
11:30pm-1am = 90 Minute Nap

That should make more since. I don't even know what I am going to do when my next AM or MID shift comes up. Then the entire schedule will have to change completely just for that day. LOL! Oh well, let's just see if I can stay awake in till 3 am as it is a Math day! Really this is probably a good thing as I don't think I would make it to 6am.

20 Minute Nap Day One

Okay so I honestly don't know if I fell asleep or just blinked. I'm afraid I did not feel well rested with this one either but once again it is only the first day. And doing the 20 minute so soon after the 90 minute one could also be a problem. That's why this is an experiment I suppose. I can only hope it get's better and that after my 3 hour nap I wake up refreshed enough to do math as I am having trouble with it as it is.

180 Minute Nap Day One

I did it!!! A full night with only 4 hours and 50 minutes of sleep! WAAHOO!! So how do I feel at the end of it? Surprisingly like would every morning upon waking up. But maybe, just slightly less tired. Weird. Now I suppose the question would be how will I do through out the day? Will a get tired faster as my impending bed time draws much, much closer to when I am at work? Or will this fresh bout of energy spring me through the day until 1130 tonight the time when the cycle starts all over. Furthermore, will I be able to stand trying to stay awake for the much longer amount of time as tomorrow is NOT a math day? Hmmm.... Well this is an experiment, let's see what happens!
